Silver Linings: Slow Down & Get Outside

Collectively, I think we can all agree that 2020 had its fair share of challenges, and that the endless barrage of events at times felt like a battering ram against all optimism and hope. But in the space between those hardships, there were little nuggets of grace.

Ultimately, as we were cut off from the world as we knew it, we discovered an even greater appreciation for the outdoors. Bike sales were off the charts, trails were filled with hikers, and outdoor spaces were teeming with people socializing in the open air. Even as the chill set in,  people gathered outside in the freezing cold, just because it was the only place to visit safely.

In this way, it seems Mother Nature has a way of looking out for us. Our lives had gotten away from us a bit. We were moving a little too fast, neglecting the quieter moments. Covid slowed us down and taught us to find joy in the simple things, to relish in friends and family and to get out into the fresh air of the outdoors. For that, I’m grateful.
